Jay Electronica - Eternal Sunshine

This isn't hip hop. It's a memoir. It's a mesmerizing photo. A timeless canvas. A Greek mythological sculpture that was never found. It's music in its purest form. It's classic. It's heart felt.

What makes this song unique is the song is dissected into IV Acts; Act I - The Pledge, Act II - Paper Thin, Act III - Voodoo Man, Act IV - FYI. The song is 9 minutes and 6 seconds long and it is ongoing music, without drums, which is constructed from Jon Brion's soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. There are also sampled dialogues from Gene Wilder playing Willy Wonka and children arguing in a foreign language. Here's a link to the lyrics.

A History of Rap: Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake & The Roots

On Wednesday, September 29th, 2010, Justin Timberlake was a special guest on the Jimmy Fallon Show. What made this episode special is that both, Timberlake and Fallon, accompanied by legendary Hip Hop group, The Roots, performed an epic ode to Hip Hop

A conversation about the Sugar Hill Gang led to Timberlake and Fallon performing the last 30 years of Hip Hop by rhyming lines from Sugar Hill Gang, Beastie Boys, Digital Underground, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, Missy Elliot, Eminem, Jay-Z and etc.

This video alone captures the essence and content of my blog. I am a 19 year old Toronto bound male who loves music. The older I grow the deeper I seem to wonder in the eternal roots of music. The more I discover about music the more interested I become into it. Music has the power to express love, hate, poverty, crime, politics, problems, death, happiness, change, hope and etc. Music is like my own timeline; I can listen to certain songs and remember things that were going on around that time, or remember specific events that occurred. Music is my own personal hyperlink into time and so are the music videos.

I think this is a marvelous way to start my blog. This blog will be a music journal of mine; I'm going to post music and music videos that I love and cherish.

This blog will not specifically be about one genre of music but many different genres as it is after all my personal preference. I hope you all enjoy!
